Up early on a Saturday morning and just finished an episode of Dateline from the night before. That was a good one for sure. It's crazy how much I look forward to watching a brand new episode of Dateline. Love that show.
There's a lot of stuff that happened this week. Starting with the continuation of the NFL free agency period. I can't lie, I haven't been excited about what the Seahawks have done, but that doesn't mean I don't love the team. I mean, it's like being disappointed in a family member. Just because that happens, doesn't mean they aren't family. One thing I've learned is how everything is won upfront in the trenches. I mean, right now there is nobody getting a big check on this offensive line. Think about that. Nobody on the offensive line for this team is getting paid a big check, but this is the same line that is suppose to protect the 100 million dollar investment in Russell Wilson. Gonna have to hit in this draft almost the way they did in 2012.
Let's see, what else happened. Oh yeah, I had to eat a crow sammich (yes I spelled that right lol). Over the last few months, the Professor John Clayton has been telling me that Russell Okung needs an agent. I told him he was wrong. I even got on air to say that he and everybody else was wrong. Welp, was I ever wrong!! He did need an agent. I've talk to several players since Okung signed his deal, and each one of them wondered what the hell he was doing. Nobody could believe he took that deal. One player said, "Yeah, they really took advantage of him not having an agent." Oh well, he's a Bronco. Wish my man all the luck for sure.
This week I've been getting ready for the Comedy Roast of Michael Bennett. That's going to be a blast!! May 15th. His brother Martellus will get roasted as well. Doug Baldwin will be there as well to pass the torch since he got roasted last year.
It's going to be a fun night. I can't wait to light Michael Bennett up. I have so many zingers for him. Lol!! I talked to him yesterday and let him know that I was gonna get him. He says, "Gee, I ain't worried about you." Yeah ok Mike... We gon see Bruh. By the way, I did tell him that I was worried about the team next season, and he quickly gave me all kinds of reasons why the team would be good. He says, "We still got curly hair (that's what he calls Russell Wilson). That boy bad (bad means really good for some of y'all that don't know)!! We also got Thomas Rawls. Man, I think that boy real good!! He's one of the best backs in the league. Watch, he gon get busy this year." One thing y'all have to understand about Mike B, he doesn't stay serious long, but when he's serious about a topic, he won't sugarcoat it. So after hearing him say that, it made me feel so much better about the upcoming season.
I'm also working on my craft. Motivational Speaking is something I love. It's a way to spread some of the messages from my father. I have a speaking engagement at the end of the month, and I also fly to Chicago to speak at a Commencement. My father would always tell me, "Champ, I would pay to hear you speak, and you're my son." Those words will stay with me forever. That's what gives me the confidence to do so. Oh yeah, I forgot. Ricardo Lockette called me this week and he wants me to speak on stage with him for WeDay 2016 coming up in April. Can't wait for that.
Oh well, I better get up and head to the gym. Everybody is gone. Tina is out of town, and my kids are gone for the weekend. After the gym I'll go get me a smoothie and head home to stare at the mirror and practice speaking. Hahaha... Lol. Have a great day. I'll leave you with a quote from my dad. "Never give anybody a broom to hit you with." I could explain it to you, but I won't. Cause when I was young, I didn't understand it for years.. Lol!!! Today it speaks loud and clear.
Appreciate you reading, WE love ya for that...
Until next time,
